Purebred Nubian Senior Does
A few years ago we were working on an export and gathering bucks. We picked up twins that had different sires. A buck got loose and DNA proved the sires of each kid. I joked for years that this was going to be my new breeding program. The more I thought about how different those bucks were, the more it made sense to me. It's like using IVF without all the expense. A buck gives you kids from many different does. Does are a much slower process being stuck using one buck a year. Using more than one buck speeds up the diversity and pinpoints the better crosses. I've tried it several times and love the results so I've embraced this new Double Dipping breeding program! We will often breed the does to two or more sires. All those kids will be DNA typed to determine sires.

Phlavia is our first daughter from Phae, big, blonde and beautiful like her dam and she knows it. She is a carbon copy of her dam, just so elegant, she takes your breath away, just not the udder or production Phae had. She is a tall, long and level doe with a beautiful wide, level rump. Her first time in the ring in 2021 she surprised us all by going Grand Champion over Nebula and Phergie at the York Fair. Her next time in the ring in 2022 she was twice Grand and BOB finishing her championship. Phlavia has been bred to both Manjelly and Mr B and due the end March.

Phergie has her mother's elegance and then some. She is long and level with strong feet and legs. She freshened with a very well attached udder with her dam's perfect teat placement. At her first show as a kid, she was Grand Champion and at her first show as a milking doe she finished her championship going two times Grand Champion. We were really looking forward to taking her to Nationals in 2022 but unfortunately, she aborted and did not come into milk. It did make a perfect opportunity to be flushed for export or domestic embryos and does have a few available through Smart Reproduction. The spring of 2024 was horribly wet and we couldn't keep the pens dry, She got a bad dose of mastitis and I'm afraid her udder may be ruined. Next spring will tell. She has been bred to Mr B and Trumpet and due early March.

The first of the Tilly quads and wow, did she take my breath away! I think I even gasped when she was born. She spent the fall as a yearling at Smart Repro with the others and there are embryos available for export by Mr. Martin. She kidded very late because of that, but boy, was it worth the wait! What an exciting udder! We haven't gone to any shows in 2023 but did make it to the York Fair where she picked up a Reserve Grand win behind Phergie, which should give her a restricted leg towards her championship. She had quad does in 24 and freshened with lots of milk and a stunning udder but with an extremely wet spring, she picked up a case of staph and went uneven. She has been bred to Darius and due mid March.

When Tilly gave birth to quads again as a 10 year old, they took my breath away as each of them were born, all very different and all beautiful. Lois was third and after two jet black kids, a marbled brown was another shock. She has a longer bone pattern then her sisters and is more like her dam Tilly. She took my breath away again when she freshened. She has such a beautiful udder with a high, wide rear, smooth fore and perfect teat placement. She has matured so beautifully this year but unfortunately, she freshened with mastitis and is uneven. She is one of the most correct does I have ever bred. To repeat the beautiful kids she had this year, Lois was bred to Trumpet but cycled back in while the Pheya buck kid was in the pen to clean up. She is bred to Phinley and is due the end of April.

Atte was last one out of Tilly's quads and again that jet black with a frosted bonus. I like the general appearance on her better than her siblings. She is longer and more uphill, and sharper in the withers. Tilly outdid herself with these beautiful girls! Atte was also at Smart Repro for export embryos and has a few available out of Mr Martin through Smart Repro. She has had a slow start milking but doing better every day. Pheya is the only kid we kept in 2022 and to say I'm excited about this doe is an understatement. She freshened with a beautiful udder and lots of milk. She milked 8.0 on her first milk test, as a yearling which is great since the Bourbon daughters did not milk. If you didn't know any better, you would think she is a clone to Phergie and her daughter, Phinesse! She is a long, tall, correct doe that definitely has the will to milk. She picked up her first leg as a two year old at the York Interstate Fair, going Grand Champion, Best of Breed and Best in Show and finished at her second show. Pheya was bred to Mr B.

Phinesse is fresh and what a fancy looking doe she is turning out to be. That udder is socked on with her dam's teat placement. So far I'm really loving the Huckleberry daughters! At her first show as a milking yearling, she went Reserve Grand Champion behind Pheya! I'm expecting big things from this doe. She is bred AI to Walnut Fork Bonzai Chili and due the end of February.
